Spotlight on… Dave Katz

I think it’s well documented by now that we just love to shout about how great our community are. Be they instructors, staff, or students, we think they are all great and we want you to know about it. This week we’re talking to Dave about how he came to GA, what he likes about it and what advice he’d give future students.

What were you doing before GA?

I work for myself, and do a variety of things within the UK Digital Media scene — consulting, teaching and working on business development mainly, but I also have a few other things going on. In fact, since starting to work with GA at the start of this year I have become a co-founder of the mobile data insight and execution platform, Intuizi; I have been instrumental in putting together a group of independent trainers and facilitators called The Learning Doctors; and put together an amazing event called The Innovation Sessions with New Digital Age, which connects innovative businesses in the digital media space with the top agencies for a ‘pitch-off’ and some ‘speed dating’ type meetings.

Tell me three things you love about your role at GA?

I love getting to know people — that’s really my drive, I just enjoy meeting people, getting to know them, understand them, finding out what makes them tick and, ultimately, with GA in particular, helping them to better understand the things that they are interested in knowing more about. The GA campus is amazing, there is a real buzz, and I can’t wait to be able to get back to that — working on a GA course during lockdown was amazing, we really learnt and grew together as a group, which was just how educational experiences with GA should be — for a couple of months, those classes were my bedrock!

What do you like about GA?

The team, the campus, the opportunity to share some knowledge with a new generation of digital marketers. The ‘can-do’ attitude of everyone I’ve met who’s involved with the work I’ve done with GA so far — literally every member of staff, full or part time, every student, whether in one of my classes or not — it’s been great!

One piece of advice you’d give to the students?

Nobody knows everything; the wisest person is the one who knows that there is always more to learn and always strives to do so. It is advice for my students, colleagues, children, parents, clients — we are all learning.
