As part of Pride month we’re taking a moment to reflect on what Pride means to us. This week we spoke to Brandon, our Student Experience to get his thoughts on Pride.

Pride to me is reaching a point of self-acceptance that channels the energy that was previously taken up by doubt, confusion or fear to be focused towards efforts, activities and causes that help support others to feel Pride in who they are.

It can be subtle, it can be overt, but whatever form it takes it is not something that can be judged on the amount of Pride someone shares, because it is different for everyone. Period.

Pride to me means connecting to those that came before me, as the feeling I feel is a direct result of the efforts of those that came before me. It’s like an inherited trait that you grow into and must both pay back and pay forward at the same time.
